First off, remember that your SSS number is a permanently assigned set of number codes that you should not entrust to anyone but yourself. It is your protected password to your account so never share it anywhere or to anyone else. Also be sure to keep a soft copy and a hard copy of it. You may write it down to a specially kept diary or small notebook and also keep a copy in your computer or a flash drive for future reference.

How to Get New SSS Number
Again, the SSS number is irreplaceable which means once assigned, take very good care of it like how to take care of your name. The Social Security System Philippines also says, “Never get a new number if you lost or forgot it”. I will just be describing how to get a new SSS number here but will feature lost and forgotten cases too later on.
Procedures in Applying for New SSS Number
SSS ID Card Application Requirements and Form
1. Know if you qualify for application based in either of these categories – employer, employee, self-employed and voluntary.
2. Download or get an E1 form. You may go to the nearest SSS branch to get one or go online to download it. E1 form is your gateway and the official SSS form for new number application.
3. Produce all necessary documentary requirements NBI or Marriage Certificate and 2 valid ID’s. (valid means effective and not expired). Ask the SSS for updated requirements when you get an E1 form.
4. Fill up all necessary information required in the form.
5. Proceed to the nearest SSS branch and give the filled up form to them. Get your claim stub copy and take note of the date stated for your claim of your number.
Lost / Forgotten SSS Number
Q: “Can I get a new number if I lost it or forgot it?”
A: (based from the SSS website) “No. The SSS number assigned to a member is the lifetime number and must always be used in all transactions with the SSS. The member should not secure another number at any other time.”
“If the member wishes to secure another SS ID card and cannot remember the SS number, it is advisable to inquire from the nearest SSS office.” (I hope this is clear for those asking the same question again and again)
What to do with members having 2 SSS numbers?
(This is what the SSS had to say about this case) – “If a member has more than one SS number, it is important to write or visit the nearest SSS branch to request for the cancellation of the other number/s and consolidation of all of the contributions under the retained SS number. From then on, the retained SS number should always be used in all transactions with the SSS.”

Hello Good morning! I want to know kung bakit po wala pa yung SSS ID ko na immail na lng daw dito s house. Mag 3 months narin kasi akong nag hihintay. I want to use it din sana for my passport application. Some of my friend said 1 mnth lang daw yung s kanila. Im just a housewife po who has a little business and im paying my sss as self employed lng po. Even i dont have my IDs yet is der anyway rather pwede ko bang ipakita s DFA office yung acknowledgement slip ko dt I have sss id but I am still waiting for it? I already started to pay my sss na kasi dats why i tot ito n rin gamitin ko as one of my valid ids. Instead of gagastos nnman ko s ibang puwede pang valid ids, ihulog ko n lng s monthly contribution ko as self employed. Hope u can advice me.. thank you po!

I have recently activated my account as a voluntary member after more than 20 years of inactivity. In the process, I found out that I have a P1,000.00(now totalling a huge amount including accrued interest)unpaid salary loan way back 1984. In my recollection, I remember borrowing this money but has been paid back before I left employment with Intel Philippines. If you would look at my contribution, my contribution from Intel ended in August 1985 when I finished from this firm. Intel has deducted payment for my 1984 loan as they have always been up to date with the collection. This loan has been fully paid (at least collected by Intel from my salaries) before I left employment in August 1985. I am unable to prove If Intel has remitted the payment or otherwise as the firm has since closed. I was again employed by Varisphere Corporation a few months after Intel and the contribution records confirms this.
I am now asking for your consideration to clear up this P1,000.00 loan plus the interest as I am clearly not aware of this loan default. If I am, I would have surely paid it out before I left Intel with my redundancy pay-out from this firm. I left Intel with clean record and I am not just sure what has caused this uncleared loan.
I am asking your consideration from the view of my previous loan records with you. There has been no default on my previous loans as can be attested from your records.
I would appreciate your time checking my records back and hope to get a positive outcome from hereon.

Mr. Paquito, punta lamang po kayo sa nearest SSS branch upang mag inquire. Noong 1982 po ay iba pa ang sistema ng Social Security System kumpara ngayon. Mangyaring siguraduhin lamang po kung ang gusto ninyo ay self-paying, self-employed or kung may trabaho po kayo ngayon ay employed naman pong category.

Hello mayron lang po akong itatanong sa inyong kawanian. Noong 1993 or 1994 kumuha ako ng SSS number sa Cubao branch. Nabigyan po ako ng SSS number ngayon hindi ko naman nagamit kc nong nagtrabaho ako hindi pala nila inihuhulog sa SSS ang kinakaltas nila samin. Almost one year din yon tapos after that nagtrabaho na ako sa abroad hanggang ngayon. Ngayon po ang aking tanong ay kukuha ba ako ng bagong SSS number o gagamitin ko yong ibinigay nila sa akin nong almost 18 years ago, kasi gusto kong magstart maghulog sa SSS ngayong 2012.

Nawala ko po yong SSS Id ko noong nasa Bicol pa ako, bago ako umalis papuntang Guam noon September 1985, i’ve been employed since 1972 to early 1985.
kailangan ko pong malaman yong dating SSS no. ko para malaman ko kung how much na ang total contributions my employer and myself made.
My SSS ID NO. was issued at Naga City, when their office was still at PNB Building, Naga City.

I just would like to ask if you could send me my husband’s(Israel Mejia Lumague)SSS number. We’re both presently working abroad and we wish to continue our contribution here. He haven’t kept any copy of his SSS number and it’s hard for us to inquire from his previous employer since we’re not in the Philippines. Your reply will be a very good help… Thank you very much.
